MS in Australian and the PR system

US Programs - TA RA guaranteed in 2nd year - job as per talent after that

Most of students in US get RA / RA for 2nd year and hence pay for only one year. Although we can be ready to pay for 2nd year.
There are cheap university where one can do the entire MS in 2 years at 35k USD, which is 15-20 lacks, which isn't a big money in US.
Although MBA is expensive and hceap MBA doesnt help as MBA = networking.

Australia

As a study option, the most hostile country is Australia but they allow things which no other country allows.

No need for GRE but there is no tuition waiver in AUS
You don't need to give GRE for going to Aus, you just need IELTS. As expected it a country of Chinese (they vote in UN against India in favor of Pakistan and China) and has dumb people and has v less population. The best talent is already absorbed by USA, followed by Canada, UK, Europe.

Canada vs Australia
Canada also gives the same opportunity to work off campus and they are more friendly than Aus. But Canada requires GRE. Like US give waiver to 80% students in low ranked univ, canada and aus dont waive fee.

Earn a lot during studies in AUS
20 hours of off campus work means you can be paid from 10$ to 50$ / hour legally if you are in the big city. For example if I got MS CS in Sydney - I can work 20 hours for 50 Dollar per hour or 20*4*50=4k USD per month.  4k salary is given by US for full time for dumb people.
Hence from the first month I can do high salary in Australia or Canada once I reach there.

Why AUS and CA are calling people there?
They are loosing on demographics.
Australia and Canada wants good people so that their companies can compete to US which is the leader in everything. The best tech is programming which takes one to these places. Finance is not a good idea on these countries as it is non technical.

Israel as compared to other options
Israel is Jewish based state - so everything is for the Jews
As compares to this option - Israel bar students for working during studies which is a very bad thing, but Israeli love Indians and they are very generous post MBA and can give high paying positions to Indian workers.

Cost in AU
Australian University for cheap program can cost like 35 AUD for 1.5 or 2 years but you can earn at-least 2-3k per month leading to 24 to 36k per year if you are skilled and have MSc or certifications.

Legal Studies Short Programs in Israel for Indian Students

Study of Law and Religion in Israel for Indian Students

Introduction
Hindutva and Zionist might seem parallel parallel ideologies where both talks about a state preserving Sanskrit / Hebrew, a home to all Hindus / Jews wherever they live, rebuilding the 2000 year old temple, fighting terrorism, building homes for the Hindus / Jews in the areas where they used to live from centuries, and a lot of others areas. But some might argue that due to the demographics scenario in India, poor management of the Hindutva agenda by the Hindu organizations, and influence of Soviet and China in Indian politics have created friction in the internal functioning of Indian Right Wing where they lack a very robust research center and knowledge creation on the subject. These are few of the reasons why 'Hindu Nationalism' took around 60 years to get into the center stage.

Rise of the Hindu Nationalistic Party and Importance of Study of Law
The current ruling party in India (which is considered a right wing Hindu Nationalist party) has got workforce broadly from two domains - 1) Hindu nationalistic cultural religious organization and 2) prominent lawyers (generally who become famous fighting for Hindu Right or against financial corruption arising from outdated left wing governance styled policies or other activities). There is disconnect between the two which can be bridged by focusing on the interconnections between Law and Religion. Here the courses developed by Israeli Universities can be of help when India lacks research center that focus in details on the issue of Law and Religion.
Hence the need for studying Hindu law and understand how the old laws from the religion would fit into the new framework of the modern state is crucial. Israel is a perfect example that combines the old laws with the modern though and promotes innovation, entrepreneurship and modern thought. Hence education in Israel on Law & Religion would greatly benefit Indian students.

Holy book of Gita - The book of Law

There are many interpretation and discussion done my Mahatama Gandhi on Gita - a book that talks about how to decide on Dharma (duty) when in case of dilemma. The interpretation of Gita by Mahatama Gandhi is the same book that PM Narendra Modi visited US and met Obama during his visit. With the emergence of Hindu Nationalism this book now finds its place in the official curriculum in a few right wing states of India.

Laws in Hinduism and Current Implementations
Hindus don't have clearly delineated law like the Jewish Laws, and in the current framework religion and state are treated as different subjects. Although, there is great number of Hindus organizations which thinks that Hindu Identity needs to be preserved. Hinduism has a very vast literature which should be considered while making the laws for the state. This would become important in the time to come with rise of Hindu Nationalism which has already started with the emergence of Narendra Modi as the new PM of India.
An example of this is the ban on cow slaughter that happened in India (Feb-March 2015), subsidy in traveling to very old temples (states like MP), recitation of Holy book Gita, adding Yoga and 'Surya-Namashkar' in school curriculum, etc.

Law in Conflict Resolution for Hindu Heritage
Law becomes important for candidates who would like to understand more about Hindu Nationalism. Cases pertaining to Hindu Religion and state are also seen in areas like fighting in Supreme Course of India for Kashmiri Pundit Re-habitation, protection of Ram-Setu (the spiritual old bridge of Lord Ram which connects India to Lanka), making changes in Hindu marriage act, etc.
Lord Ram is the most revered diety in India, Mahatama Gandhi also revered Lord Ram and the last two words before his death is 'Ram'.
Currently, there is no place in India where research on religions and law is taken and hence studies in Israel would become an important phase for prospective students to handle the issues related to Lord Ram under current framework of 'Law of the state'.
List of areas that where is overlap between Law and Religion from an Indian perspective.

  1. Uniform Civil Code - The current code applies strictly to Hindus and not to Muslims who have their own Muslim personal Law board. Indian Right wing has demanding a UCC.
  2. Article 370 - This restricts re-habitation of Kashmiri Pundits in the Muslim dominated Kashmir - the right wing in demanding abrogation of this act.
  3. Yoga
  4. Gita as national book
  5. Temple consensus vs. Constitution amendment - The temple of Ram in the holy city in Ayodhya was destroyed by Muslim invader Babar which Hindus want to rebuilt but are not able to.
  6. Different law for revenues governing mosque and temples. Temple under government while mosques don't under govt
Bar Ilan University and Whittier College Study Abroad Program- June 7-July 2, 2015
Bar-Ilan offers a four week program that an Indian student could take to understand the Israeli angle of Law with religion or conflict.
Whittier Law School and Bar Ilan University Faculty of Law provides a unique, four-week legal studies program, offered in two two-week semesters.

I have tried to draw parallels on what an Indian student can possible learn through this course.
•    Comparative Dispute Resolution
•    Regulation, Politics & Law
•    Holocaust, Genocide and the Law - Laws for Hindus who faced genocide
•    Religion and State - Hindutva and India
•    International Criminal Law - Applications on dealing with Terrorists in Kashmir which is internationalized by Pakistan
•    Jewish Law - Hindu Law
Conclusion
Based on the emerging world order, and new dynamics of India politics, study of Law in Israel becomes fascinating and there is great scope of learning from such programs for Indian Students.

Conflict Management & Negotiation Studies in Israel v3

Conflict Management & Negotiation Studies in Israel

Introduction

India and Israel have a common threat - Terrorism. It needs to be tackled strategically and in a scientific way.

This article explores aspects of  'Conflict Management and Negotiation Studies' provided at an Israeli University. This article showcases the academic initiatives taken by the state of Israel to deal with such an intense threat. Also, this article explores the utility of the course as far as Indian students are concerned.

Firstly, the background of the prospective Indian candidate is important. He/She should be of Political Science or other similar backgrounds to understand the intensity involved in such courses. Israel has a history of dealing with complex challenges posed by it's neighborhood, similarly, India is placed in a troubled region with no neighboring country that can be called as stable. India has managed to work out diplomatic solutions to it's troubles but it had to indulged in conflicts as well & the years 1948, 1962, 1965, 1971 & 1999 are witness to that.

Thus, Conflict Management has become an important aspect of policy making of both these nations (India & Israel).

Current Developments

A recent example of excellent conflict management and negotiation skills has been shown by the Indian ruling party's (BJP) leader Mr. Ram Madhav. He was the one who handled the negotiations for government formation between PDP-BJP in the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir. It was unimaginable few days earlier as both these parties are ideologically opposite to each other. But, Mr. Ram Madhav made possible the impossible and formed the first coalition government of BJP in the troubled state. Now, BJP has shun it's earlier ways of doing politics and is seen as more aggressive party when it comes to politics in India.

There are some courses in India which talks about the area of conflict management but these courses lack the depth and international dimension which are needed to understand the complete picture. These courses are more influenced by Soviet era political ideas rather than present day Globalized politics. The courses are listed in [5-7]. Hence,to provide the larger picture and to offer the present day realities of the world, emphasis is put on Israeli courses rather than Indian.

When we review various literature on conflicts marring the Republic of India, no proper scientific approach has been taken and the story has been told to the masses depending on the ideology of the person writing the same. No emphasis has been given to the learning that India should take from past conflicts and how it should deal with similar situations in the future. It is a known fact that India lacks research and academic centers to specialize in this complex area of conflict management. The need is to have a state of the art center for the same which studies the past, analyze the present realities and subsequently comes up with future probable situations and there probable solutions.

Another complicated area of conflict which should be dealt with immediately has been the illegal immigration from the neighboring Muslim majority state of Bangladesh into India. It has threatened the whole demographics of the Indian states like Bengal and Assam. The result of this has been that there has been huge loss to the existing Indian population in these states as it has created loss of jobs and put huge strain on limited resources. As if this wasn't enough, the Government of India (GOI) hasn't been able to handle the situation since the ruling parties in these troubled states have been long indulging in vote bank politics resulting in political roadblocks for the GOI.

These are some of the 1000s of conflicts that India is marred with, and it is not at all doubted that all the conflicts in which India is involved is having more of an International flavor rather than domestic one. Thus, understanding global situations is important while dealing with conflicts within India. This course started by the Israeli University thus becomes an ideal one.

Similarities & Contrasts

British Rule had huge impact on both India and Israel. One of the systems inherited from British by both these countries has been the system of Law. Also, British rule have ensured that religious tensions remain forever in these two countries (both nations were divided on the grounds of religion).

How this situation is handled or dealt with are totally different in these two countries, while India believes in the Ideas of Gandhi which emphasis on non-violence, Israel believes on more aggressive approach. Religiously speaking, while Israel believes in secularism and at the same time promotes Judaism as the religion of majority, in India, concept of Hindutva (way of living) is lost in the concept of secularism.

Right wing ideology don't find academic strength in India as the majority of top Universities in India are dominated by Left leaning people. Also, the right wing lobby of India lacks scientific and systematic approach, this is the area where Israel can help these lobbies to strengthen there hold in India.

Conflict Management & Negotiation Studies at Bar-Ilan University Israel

Though the conflict scenarios in the state of India and Israel are to a large extent similar in nature, India lacks a proper academic approach to deal with the situation.

It is in this scenario that Bar-Ilian university takes the lead and can be a go to destination for many Indian students. For Courses launched by Bar-Ilan University, please check out the link : http://pconfl.biu.ac.il/en/node/1950

Courses are listed and how Indian students can benefit from the same in Indian context is shown. Courses are open for International Students and is taught in English:

1) From Identity-Based Conflict to Identity-Based Cooperation - This course talks about  ARIA model.
2) Religion and Conflict Resolution - This becomes important in Indian context considering huge diversities and religious tensions in India.
3) Collective Memory, Narrative and Conflict [2] - Indian security and political professional needs to learn how to understand and present the collective memory. The sad time of Jewish holocaust and the way of presenting in arts and literature would become an important case study. One should never forget the history while formulating policy for the future, this has been always kept in mind by the state of Israel and has strengthen it to great extent.
4) Alternative Dispute Resolution and Culture - Mediation, arbitration and justice can be important because most of the matters go to International Court of Justice (ICJ) and also mediation and arbitration occurs in many issues related to India and Pakistan.
 5) Field Work/Internship (3 credits, four weeks) at leading think tanks and practitioner - NGOs as well as guided excursions and meetings.

MBA Abroad Trends for Indian Students - Focus on Israel

MBA in Israel as an Option for Indian Students
Think beyond USA, Think Israel!

Top keywords: MBA Abroad worth it, MBA without work experience, MBA after graduation.

Abstract:

In this article, we have explored how Indian students view the 'MBA abroad' option and the changing trends in this domain. There are various news articles and reports that are cited to understand how Indian students consider costs, employment opportunities, work experience, VISA rules, and scholarships among others while making a decision to pursue MBA abroad. Also, we have discussed the segments (fresher, managerial, work visa oriented) of the candidates those apply for an 'International MBA' or an 'MBA abroad'.

Current Scenario and Analysis of the 'International MBA' Option

Doing an MBA abroad offers great opportunity for a holistic learning. Many MBA programs in the west today have significant candidates from foreign countries [6]. This trend is bound to increase due to the importance of understanding cultural differences and approaches of doing business in a ‘Globalized World’.

Each year around 200k-300k students move out of India for their education [7]. ASSOCHAM, India predicts that India loses around $17 billion in revenues in 2011 due to this outward flow. Although, the more concern for India has been the brain drain in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) field. Though, MBA doesn't come inside this field, but a general trend suggest that STEM areas remain the most important factor even for MBAs who finally gets employed in STEM areas.

There are proponents of MBA in India vis-a-vis MBA abroad who suggests that if the ultimate destination is India, focus is on scholarship and the entry process is rigorous through a written exam-GD-PI which makes sure that deserving candidates gets the best institutes of India [16]. We have countered this view citing the changes in the landscape in this article.

India is the only big country where there is a trend to do MBA just after your graduation without work experience. Hence, there is a need for a 2nd MBA for those who did their MBA early in their career as reported in [3]. A second degree to home wouldn't make much sense and these candidates are settled in their life so don't want to move to west for a long period. Student with less experience in India prefers a 2 year MBA abroad, and hence also relies on parents' finances [9]. This is also because of the saving culture in Indian society that students are financed by parents.

Also, there is an upward trend of students going to western countries for an International MBA, mostly in the European nations [2, 15]. More students from west would be a part of the IMBAs in location in between west and east. There are many students in the west who would like to an MBA where they can find diversity and people with different international backgrounds. This also helps them to adjust to the new culture they might encounter which cannot be experienced in a US MBA with 90% batch from US. An article on how European students looks at the advances in international MBA is given in [10].

Why US MBA Ranks Number One for Indian Students?

After US, there is no country currently which attracts Indian MBA aspirants to a great deal [4]. Also most of the foreign education consultancy like the one shown in [11, 19] argues that MBA in US is the best choice.  Indian students prefer USA as their destination due to the easier OPT and H1B resume that allows them the best talent to contribute in US economy [26]. Although for some, the MBA abroad due to its cost makes it very tough to return back when the post MBA earning doesn't increase in the proportion to offset the cost parity [27].

Canada, New Zealand and Australia are the options due to their liberal work visa policy as compared to Europe which has a strict work VISA policy. Hence, there is no place to go for Indian students except US for their MBA due to the ease of getting H1B VISA post-MBA. Currently there is no favourable VISA policy of Israel for Indian students (as this is still getting sorted out), however, Israel provides door for an employment at global destinations post the MBA which no other option provides. Australia, which gives Indian students 2 year work permit guaranteed with their MBA program, is now attracting great number of Indian students. A ranking of how Indian students perceive different countries for higher education is given in [5]. This report suggest that while considering for an MBA in Israel the only comparable option is Singapore, because all other places doesn't provides good returns while continuing a job back in India.

Financial Aspect of the decision making

The rupee depreciation in recent times has caused many foreign MBA aspirants to try locations other than US for an international MBA [1]. An MBA from UPenn costs around $120k while from Oxford costs around 41k pounds. Moreover for those student who want an International MBA would go to USA and plan to spend at-least 5-10 years so that they can get the required returns on their investment in an MBA. Contrary to this those who want to do an International MBA and return to India to continue a job doesn't find a very good International MBA in US or Europe, this is where BIU can provide an affordable option with the total cost of around $ 22-30k. Another comparison of Indian MBA vs MBA abroad is given in [12].

GMAC suggested that most of the students from India moving abroad for MBA relies on parents money and education loans [8]. This is also a reason Indian students are sensitive to the scholarship opportunities as compared to students of China which the report suggest.

Focusing on these four points would make sure the students who visit the site of other universities also gets to site of BIU, hence in turn we benefit from their promotion as well.
Adsense placement: TAU, Technion and IDC are seen for paid placements at Google India's search of "Israel MBA".

Conclusion and Proposed Strategy for BIU

It’s a new trend that most of the students doing MBA abroad gets easy access to Venture Capitalist money and hence they start new ventures when they return back. An entrepreneurship tale is given in [13]. Israel is known as the start-up nation and hence this is an area where new partners could be found. The other group to cater is the Executive MBA aspirants who want to start their own venture or who are in their mid-career, there are seminars organized in New Delhi on such courses [20]

Infosys, the biggest IT organization of India and other companies are hiring in 200 locations abroad for their positions which are located globally [17]. The placement provided is dependent on the institute as well as the location and also on the strategic relevance of the learning. Likewise it wouldn't be tough to engage Indian companies to hire Indian students who want to get back to India.

Companies where BIU can place Indian students with strong presence are:: Amdocs, Elbit, IBM, Goldman, Comverse, WorldQuant, etc

There are three ways where BIU can lead the MBA option for Indian students in Israel, first my increasing the online presence, second by using the Alumni more efficiency to penetrate India or creating Indian Alumni, thirdly making the course more India specific by adding / tweaking the module. Hence any university is expected to create a better mechanism to get in touch with the rich Alumni it has to get the connections in India for post MBA opportunities.

Political buzz around 'make in India - launched by Honorable PM Modi' which Israeli University has started capturing in recent months, for example TAU [23, 24]. The Nanotech lab would be a great asset to contribute a part in the 'make in India' initiative because most of the manufacturing is related to Nanotech / MEMS etc [25].

This is similar to the new initiative by government of India to create start-up - entrepreneurship fund for people who are just out of college which is catered by the Startup-MBA at Technion. Noteworthy, the flier had focused on the 'Start-up' which is helpful for the position of the site on search engine which makes Israeli MBA's rank on top for such keywords.

Another promotional method is by taking virtual seminars or information session for the program. For the announcement of Scholarship, the flier can be submitted to the foreign education counsellor or submitted to free portals online. Both of these options are listed in appendix.

About IndoIsraelResearch.com

We would be making sure we use the ideas to make sure IndoIsraelResearch.com contributes and help Indian students understand the topics and keywords and land our website to get more information. Already, we rank in top 20-30 on many keywords.
